Dr. Kathileen Boozer is a practicing Nurse Practitioner (NP/APRN) who specializes in dermatology and community health with previous experience as a full-time assistant clinical professor at Louise Herrington School of Nursing, Baylor University, and Andy & Barbara Gessner College of Nursing, University of Houston. Dr. Boozer graduated from Baylor University in 2003 with a degree in Political Science and History. She began her nursing career after graduating from West Texas A&M with her BSN in 2008. Dr. Boozer pursued her passion for nursing and serving others and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2011. She completed a dermatology internship in 2014 and graduated with her DNP from Creighton University in 2018. Dr. Boozer has a broad background in nursing with specific training and expertise in dermatology, skin cancer/ melanoma, and community health/ education. Additionally, Dr. Boozer has experience in transdisciplinary research, practice, and policy development. Her previous projects included investigating the use of virtual simulation technology for the prevention and early detection of cutaneous melanoma. Dr. Boozer is a published scholar and previously served as Chair of the AHEC East Board of Directors and Chair of the Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP) Nominations Committee. She is an active advocate for improving healthcare outcomes, and as an educator, she brings a creative and innovative spirit, along with a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for healthcare professionals and the general population. Currently, she serves on the Educational Committee and DEIB special interest group for TNP and holds active memberships in AANP, TNP, DNA, and ICN NP/APN.
